Heatsave this winter!
Make sure you have a warm winter and save money by taking
advantage of a West Lancashire District Council heating
initiative.
As a result of a Government funded initiative, the District
Council is working in partnership with Home Insulation Services Ltd
and two domestic energy suppliers to provide home insulation work
for local residents at a discount.
The benefits of improving insulation are not just a warmer,
healthier and more comfortable home but also lower heating bills.
For example, a typical 1950s built three-bedroom semi-detached
house can expect to reduce its annual heating bill by around £270
each year at current prices by having both its wall cavity and roof
space insulated.
With rapidly escalating fuel bills, the savings are likely to
increase and carbon emissions will be reduced too, which helps to
protect the environment.
Cllr Val Hopley, Portfolio Holder for Housing Services, said:
"This is a great initiative for residents because it is helping
them to make their homes warmer and at the same time is saving
money on fuel bills, especially in such a difficult time with the
credit crunch. It’s a win-win situation because it also benefits
the Council by helping more people live in decent homes and the
environment benefits from a reduction of greenhouse gases being
released from burning fuel in the home. It’s also and excellent
example of the Council working in partnership with other
organisations for the benefit of the residents of West Lancashire,
as well as the Council and the environment.
"I would urge homeowners to take advantage of this offer to
ensure that they have a warm and cosy winter ahead."
Home Insulation Services are offering free surveys to help
residents check the depth of their loft insulation and to check
that any wall cavities are suitable for insulating. Their surveyors
will also confirm the exact cost to the homeowners.
The energy supplier funding may change in the future so the
scheme is only able to hold prices until 31 December 2008. For more
