Opportunities for artists
to get their work noticed!
Calling artists and craft makers -
find out what’s happening in your region!
The next meeting of the West Lancashire Artists Network is on
Wednesday 22 October, from 7.30pm to 9pm at Ormskirk’s Chapel
Gallery, St Helens Road.
Artists and contemporary craft makers in West Lancashire looking
to advance their career or to meet others with similar artistic
interests would benefit from attending this networking group for
creative individuals.
It’s an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in what’s
happening in the arts locally, and throughout the region including
the Liverpool Biennial. There will be information on upcoming
exhibitions, events and a range of other exciting projects and you
can also find out about opportunities for local artists and
contemporary craft makers at the Chapel Gallery.
This includes information on how to apply for a stall at the
Christmas Fine Art & Contemporary Craft Event 2008 on Friday 28
November, which is a popular annual event, from noon to 8.00pm -
the same day as the Ormskirk Christmas Lights switch-on. The event
is something of a festive extravaganza with around thirty artists
and makers selling their wares, and there’s complementary mulled
wine, live music and lots to entertain the kids too.
Anyone with questions regarding opportunities within the arts,
whether that is advice on selling artwork or tips on the best ways
to approach galleries for exhibition opportunities, can also speak
directly to the West Lancashire District Council Arts Development
Team, based at the Chapel Gallery.
Cllr Geoff Hammond, Portfolio Holder for Community Services,
said: "This event is aimed at creative individuals who want to have
their artwork seen by galleries, retail outlets and those looking
to commission works or who want to raise their profile. It’s also a
great way for talented, like-minded people to share their ideas and
discuss their own artwork. The informal atmosphere means it’s an
excellent chance to meet like-minded individuals living in the area
and a great way of widening your social circle and making new
friends.
So make sure you come along to this free event and find out
what’s happening in your region."
The event is free and light refreshments will be provided. For
more details please contact the Gallery on 01695 571328, or email
chapelgallery@westlancsdc.gov.uk.
Alternatively, visit the Gallery’s website - www.chapelgallery.org.uk
(external link) or our Chapel Gallery pages.
The public can visit the Gallery, off St Helens Road, anytime
from 10am to 4.30pm, Tuesday to Saturday. The café is open from
10am to 4pm. Entrance is free.
