First birthday for Gallery’s Family Friendly
Programme
It has been a year since Chapel Gallery launched its first
innovative family friendly programme, which has been so successful
that a second one has been unveiled.
The new programme out now includes one special planned
event each month for mums, dads and children to join in at the
weekend.
There’s everything from storytelling, puppet making,
learning how to create all sorts of wonderful things with balloons,
seeing live statues and other fun activities!
This complements the free weekly room the gallery provides
every Saturday that is dedicated to creative pastimes for both
parents and youngsters to enjoy.
Whilst there, visitors can meet the gallery’s friendly
team or join in the specially organised activities to accompany the
current exhibition on show.
The programme is particularly popular because it’s free or
only a very small fee for the special events and it doesn’t matter
what the weather like - it’s all indoors.
Cllr Andrew Fowler, Portfolio Holder for Community
Services and Health, said: "Since its launch last year, the project
has grown in strength and in numbers as more and more families
enjoy the benefits of taking part in the inspiring activities. It’s
a great way to enjoy the arts and get creative at the same time, so
make sure you pick up a programme so that you don’t miss
out."
What parents have said about the family friendly
activities…
- "The children loved them, especially the
story-telling because he really involved the children, it was very
captivating", says Linda Mutafa.
- "They are really worthwhile, the girls did lots of things
from drama to modelling classes and they really enjoyed them. I’m
surprised more families don’t come along because they are so cheap
as well," says Eleanor Lombari.
The family friendly activities enhance the school holiday
workshops for youngsters, exhibitions, events and other excellent
facilities. To find out more contact 01695 571328, visit the
