Last chance to nominate your favourite
building
Time is ticking away for people to nominate their favourite
building for this year’s West Lancashire Design Awards as the
deadline looms closer.
There are only a couple of weeks left for residents to put
forward their best design, as the closing date for entries is 1
May.
So it’s a final chance for people to pick a development that
they think deserves an award for being well designed and enhances
the environment they live in.
Cllr Martin Forshaw, Portfolio Holder for Planning, said: "With
only a couple of weeks left to the closing date people need to
hurry if they want to nominate their favourite building or
development which they feel improves the area they live in. It is
important that we recognise and award those schemes which have
gained a higher quality of design so your voice is important."
Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Design Awards are a key
part of West Lancashire District Council’s ‘Design Champion’
initiative, which aims to encourage good design in the area.
Outstanding designs will be judged in the following
categories:
If you live, work or visit West Lancashire you can nominate your
favourite building/development by completing a nomination form.
Only schemes completed after June 2007 will be considered and the
closing date for entries is 1 May.
You can nominate your favourite building directly from the
Council’s website off the home page as well as downloading and
filling in a form from our Design Awards page.
Alternatively you can pick up a nomination form at all local
libraries, the Council’s customer service points in Derby Street,
Ormskirk and the Concourse, Skelmersdale. For more information or
to request a form, contact Heritage and Environment on 01695

As result of support from Places Matter! and the Homes and
Communities Agency for sponsoring this year’s Design Awards, the
Council also aims to produce a booklet about previous winners from
the last twenty years of the awards - so watch this space for
details.
