Don your hiking boots for August’s Walking
Festival
Step out for summer with our rangers to celebrate this month’s
popular Walking Festival.
West Lancashire Borough Council’s Countryside Rangers have put
together an exciting events list of walks to suit all ages and
abilities to mark the return of the annual Walking Festival.
Throughout August there are plenty of walking activities so that
you can stretch your legs and get out and discover West
Lancashire’s breathtaking countrside.
With a variety of walks to suit all ages and abilities there is
bound to be something to suit everyone. From short themed and
informative walks to long distance rambles or even walks for your
pet dog, there’s plenty of variety to choose from.
Whislt on your travels you can discover new and wonderful things
about nature, wildlife and history - and meet new friends at the
same time.
What’s more, all the walks are free, which is an added bonus in
the current economic climtate of recession.
Cllr Andrew Fowler, Portfolio Holder for Community Services,
said: "Walking costs nothing and is a great way to stay fit and
healthy, discover the great outdoors and socialise with likeminded
people. Plus, you can walk on your own or with friends and family -
so there’s really no excuse not to take part. Why not have a look
at our Walking Festival programme and take advantage of one of
these free events."
All walks are free and take place at a variety of locations
across the district. Sturdy footwear and appropriate clothing to
suit all weather conditions must be worn.
