Have your say on new play area for Summer
Street
Children and the local community will have an opportunity to
vote for their favourite design for new play facilities in Ashurst,
Skelmersdale.
Local consultation has already resulted in support for the
Summer Street play project with the chosen location being at the
existing site.
So for the next stage of the scheme, West Lancashire Borough
Council has invited a selection of play manufacturers to submit
designs, which will be on display for local residents and children
to view and vote for the one they like best.
The designs include lots of exciting innovative ideas, which
offer a variety of play choice for a wide age range of young people
to enjoy.
The existing equipment has recently been removed, together with
necessary woodland work to make ready for the play area.
The public viewing will take place on Wednesday 19 August,
between 3.00pm and 6.00pm at Lambourne Meeting Room/Residents
Lounge, Lambourne (off Larkhill), Ashurst.
Officers from the Borough Council will be on hand to take your
vote and offer impartial advice.
Cllr Andrew Fowler, Portfolio Holder for Community Services,
said: "Playgrounds provide recreation and enjoyment for our
children and also help them to develop physical strength,
co-ordination and flexibility, which is why it is important that we
choose a play area design that meets the needs of our youngsters.
To ensure that we get it right, we want the community to be as
involved as possible - so make sure you have your say and get
voting for your favourite design."
A survey has already been carried out with local residents and
the majority voted in favour to provide the facility and for it to
be kept on its original site.
