Fourth birthday marks a leisure milestone for
Trust
Customers are reaping the benefits of the West Lancashire
Community Leisure Trust partnership as it celebrates its fourth
anniversary.
Since the Trust took over the management of the Council’s
leisure facilities in 2005 it has been one big success story.
In the four years since the formation of the Trust the massive
improvements are plain to see, ensuring that users are enjoying
better facilities and getting value for money.
There has been millions of pounds worth of investment to improve
the customer experience; visitor numbers have increased; more jobs
have been created at the sites to deliver the services; opening
hours have been extended; gyms boast state-of-the-art fitness
equipment; and new activity programmes have been launched.
Not only that, the District Council has actually managed to save
money through the arrangement, thus ensuring that customers get
value for money and an improved service at the same time.
Cllr Geoff Hammond, Portfolio Holder for Community Services,
said: "From the beginning we have enjoyed much success because the
Trust is providing the kind of leisure facilities that the Council
could not have done on its own. Not only is the arrangement much
better for the customer experience it is better for the Council’s
purse strings too. I’m confident that we will continue to deliver
our promise to provide top class leisure facilities for the
future."
There are also various initiatives planned in 2009 for customers
to get fit and healthy.
Bill Lloyd, Chairman of the Leisure Trust, said:"We have
achieved so much in the last four years. We continually listen to
our customers to ensure that we are meeting their needs and
expectations and we have made many improvements that are benefiting
our users. The Trust are looking forward to the future and are
working with the Council to provide a new leisure facility in
Skelmersdale to replace Nye Bevan Pool and Skelmersdale Sports
Centre, which shows our commitment to encouraging active
lifestyles."
The partnership is between the board of Trustees, operating
company Serco Leisure Ltd and West Lancashire District Council.
