Do you have views about the issues facing West Lancs? Do you
care about how the district develops in the years ahead?
If so, take the chance to give your views in an important survey
that is being launched by West Lancs District Council on Thursday 8
January 2009.
The survey - the Issues Questionnaire - is part of the Council’s
work to prepare a Local Development Framework (LDF) for the
district, particularly key documents such as the Core Strategy and
Site Allocations documents. The LDF will ultimately replace the
West Lancashire Replacement Local Plan and provide a planning
framework for future development.
The Questionnaire sets out a number questions on the issues that
it is felt the new West Lancashire LDF should address, such as
affordable housing, employment, public transport and the
environment. Many of these issues were identified at ‘Spatial
Forum’ events held by the Council during summer 2008.
Councillor Martin Forshaw, Portfolio Holder for Planning said:
"The Issues Questionnaire provides the opportunity for all
residents, businesses and organisations within West Lancashire to
have early input into the preparation of the Local Development
Framework, which is a key document that will help shape the future
of the District."
The survey runs from Thursday 8 January to Thursday 5 February
and the questionnaire is available to fill in online at westlancsdc.gov.uk/planningconsulation
from 9am on 8 January.
Paper copies can be provided upon request by visiting the
District Council Offices or by contacting the Planning Policy Team
on 01695 585194.
