Be inspired by nature at Chapel Gallery!
Nature is full of wonders so make sure you visit the latest
inspiring exhibition to be unveiled at Ormskirk’s Chapel
Gallery.
The natural world with its ever-evolving landscapes remains a
powerful source of inspiration for contemporary artists, as it has
been for centuries.
So visitors will be mesmerised by the stunning pieces of artwork
that will be launched at the gallery from 28th February to 11
April, which reflect our fascination with everything from mountains
to deserts or breathtaking woodlands.
The work includes large-scale paintings, delicate paper hanging
sculptures, atmospheric photography and a contemplative film,
demonstrating the profound physical and emotional connection to
nature. The result is a group show that is at once a contemplative
and uplifting experience.
Eleven artists are taking part in the exhibition. They are:
Helen Booth, Stuart Carter, Sarah Chapman, Beverley Coleclough,
Tracy Griffin, Jane Hughes, Sarah Jerath, Sharon Kelly, Hawys
Mather, Georgina Vinsun and Anthea Walsh.
To accompany the exhibition there will be an artist talk by
Tracy Griffin on Wednesday 1 April, who says of her work: "The
experience of our natural environment and the physical presence of
moving through the landscapes have always inspired me. My work
reflects the colour, light, form and structure of these
environments."
Also alongside this exhibition is ‘One Step On’ that showcases
the textiles of a Lancashire-based artist collective. It is made up
of eleven artists who each demonstrate their own individual
techniques and approaches. Brought together by their passion for
the process and an ambition to produce thoughtful and inventive
pieces, this showcase represents some of their most impressive
work.
The exhibiting artists are: Sue Abbott, Gaynor Ackers, Karen
Hurrell, Sandie Maher, Christine Maxwell, Renu Modha, Betty Morris,
Lesley King, Anne Stark, Monica Selway and Marjorie Williams.
Cllr Andrew Fowler, Portfolio Holder for Community Services,
said: "We all like to go back to nature from time to time and this
exhibition allows us to explore the beauty of our natural
surroundings. The ‘One Step On’ showcase is also another
fascinating example of textile masterpieces. Make sure you go along
to Chapel Gallery to experience these inspiring works."
