Make a splash for Swimathon 2009
Dive in for charity by signing up to this year’s Swimathon,
which is being hosted at two of West Lancashire’s leisure
pools.
Nye Bevan in Skelmersdale and Park Pool in Ormskirk will be
joining over 500 venues across the country for the world’s largest
swimming fundraising event of the year, which takes place from the
16 to 19 April 2009.
It’s a great way to:
- Get fit
- Have fun with friends
- Complete a challenge
- Raise money for a good cause
Now in its 23rd year, almost half a million swimmers have taken
part in this annual event - raising over £32 million for charity.
So why not join thousands of swimmers and get in the pool to raise
money for Marie Curie Cancer Care and The Swimathon Foundation!
Bill Lloyd, Chairman of the West Lancashire Community Leisure
Trust, said:
"Swimming is a great way to keep fit and have fun with your
friends - and if you take part in this year’s Swimathon you can do
both. So make sure you register to take part and raise money for a
good cause at the same time."
Nye Bevan will be hosting their Swimathon events on 16 April and
19 April, from 4pm. Park Pool will host their events on 16 and 17
April, from 7am. But hurry as there are only a few places left!
Cllr Andrew Fowler, Portfolio Holder for Community Services,
said: "It’s great that the Trust is once again pledging to support
this fantastic fundraising initiative by hosting the Swimathon at
their pools. It is open to everyone and you can even set your own
personal challenge by choosing and completing a distance of your
choice - so join in and make a splash for cash!"
