October Halloween bonanza at our
parks
There will be some spooky goings on during October at West
Lancashire’s parks and countryside.
With the colder weather just round the corner and events such as
Halloween and national Apple Day on the way, West Lancashire
Borough Council’s rangers have organised some exciting outdoor
events to mark these celebrations.
There’s everything from pumpkin carving and lantern making, a
Halloween parade, conker competitions, learning all about delicious
apples, going animal crazy or feeding the birds. Or you can help
the rangers with seed gathering and preparing for spring with some
planting. Check the Council website
www.westlancs.gov.uk/events for more
details.
Cllr Andrew Fowler, Portfolio Holder for Community Services,
said: "October will be an action-packed month for the great
outdoors because it’s the seed gathering season and we’ll also need
to make preparations for next spring’s blooms. It’s also Halloween
so make sure you put on your scariest costume and bring your
homemade lantern along to Coronation Park for the spooky
parade."
Events are free to join but it’s a good idea to book in advance,
as places are limited. For more information or to book events at
Beacon Country Park, Beacon Lane, Up Holland, contact 01695 622794
or email beacon.park@westlancs.gov.uk.
For events at Coronation Park, Park Road, Ormskirk, contact 01695
