Changing times for Richmond Park with new
pavilion!
Work has started to build a brand new changing pavilion at
Burscough’s Richmond Park.
West Lancashire Borough Council has been carrying out a
number of improvements to enhance the environment at the popular
park.
The latest phase of works to build the changing pavilion
is the biggest part of the overall scheme and will give sports
teams a better quality facility when they are using the park to
play games.
It is anticipated that the changing rooms will be ready to
use within a month.
Cllr Andrew Fowler, Portfolio Holder for Community
Services and Health, said: "This is the biggest phase of the
project to build the new changing pavilion, which will really
benefit the local community who want to use the park to play sports
games. It will complement the other work that we have also carried
out to enhance this popular park."
A new drainage system has already been installed to stop
flooding, tree management works have taken place to remove any that
were damaged or diseased and CCTV coverage has been installed at
the park to provide additional safety and community
reassurance.
Once the changing pavilion has been completed, there will
further improvements such as new gates and fencing, better
footpaths, the replacement of park furniture such as seats and
bins, and tree and shrub planting. Depending on additional external
funding, the Council is also hoping to re-locate the multi-use
games area; install new fitness equipment and a trim trail; and
also build a new entrance to the park.
The park is still open for use while this work is going
on. For more information about the Council’s parks, please visit
