Winter planting in full bloom
It’s a blooming marvellous time as the Council starts its winter
planting to ensure that West Lancashire maintains its lush green
image next year.
Despite the autumn chill in the air, West Lancashire Borough
Council’s Street Scene Division are busily preparing for the 2010
spring season.
The teams are currently out and about planting an assortment of
bedding plants to make sure that West Lancashire’s landscapes will
be a mix of vibrant colours next year.
Once the work has been completed, a brand new flower scheme
using an assortment of different blooms will be busily growing
during the colder months ready to come to life to mark the start of
the spring - giving the borough a whole new look to reflect the
change in season.
Cllr Paul Greenall, Portfolio Holder for Street Scene, said:
“The Council is always looking ahead at ways to improve the borough
as part of our commitment to keeping West Lancashire clean and
green. So whilst everybody has been wrapping up to keep the cold
out, we’ve been thinking ahead to next spring to ensure that West
Lancashire remains beautiful, vibrant and colourful.
“The winter planting project is an important task because it is
crucial that we pick the right time of year to carry out this work
so that come spring the borough is brought to life with
flowers.”
