Keep it all under the one roof with your
neighbours
When a few people live together under the one roof it can
sometimes be noisy and messy, so the Council has launched a
campaign to ‘think about others!’
The District Council receives lots of complaints about refuse
problems and noise issues when groups share houses and communal
areas.
In a bid to reduce the problem, the Council is taking positive
action by asking residents to act responsibly and spare a thought
for their neighbours.
Posters have been distributed to these types of affected
properties with the underlying message to think about others.
Edge Hill University has agreed to support the initiative and
they have helped to deliver posters to the landlords of properties
registered with the college for student accommodation.
The noise posters focus on keeping the noise down while the
waste posters have easy-to-follow pictures about what is acceptable
and what is not.
Cllr Geoff Hammond, Portfolio Holder for Community Services,
said: "When numerous people share the one room or communal areas it
can result in extra noise and also refuse problems. For example,
when a few people are using one bin it can result in rubbish being
discarded irresponsibly. This is why we want to encourage people to
think about their neighbours and think about the environment they
live in too. The posters send out a clear message to think about
others, which will hopefully reduce the number of complaints we
receive."
Copies of the posters are available on our environmental health
pages. If you are being bothered by noise or have a refuse issue
contact the Council on 01695 577177, visit the Council offices or
make a
complaint.
