Log on to find a new home – anywhere
in the country!
Tenants looking for another home can now use a
new web service - HomeSwapper – to swap homes with people anywhere
in the country.
More than 130 tenants have registered since
West Lancs District Council teamed up in April with HomeSwapper, the UK’s
largest web-based community of social housing tenants looking to
swap homes.
Tenants can use HomeSwapper to search for homes either near to
where they live or in another part of the country. Visit our
mutual
exchange and HomeSwapper page or www.homeswapper.co.uk.
Councillor Val Hopley, portfolio holder for
housing, said: “The Council has signed up to HomeSwapper to help tenants if they want to find a
new home. HomeSwapper is easy to use
and it can help you find a new home more quickly than waiting on a
transfer list.
“West Lancs is a wonderful place to live and
we don’t want to lose tenants! But we do recognise that sometimes people need to find a new
home, for work or family reasons, and HomeSwapper can make this easier.”
To find a swap tenants must register with
HomeSwapper, which then checks daily
for any matches. Match alerts are sent either by email or SMS text
and contain the other tenant’s
contact details so they can get in touch and arrange to view one
another’s property. Potential swappers need to make sure they have
the permission of their landlords before arranging to move.
Any tenant of the council or another social
landlord can join. The service is free to tenants of landlords who
are HomeSwapper partners, as West
Lancashire District Council is, otherwise there is small
charge.
For more information go to our
mutual
exchange and HomeSwapper pages or www.homeswapper.co.uk, email
