The Council offers a range of outlets and opportunities for involvement in arts and culture activity within the district, in accordance with the Local Cultural Strategy, which assists the Council to meet its corporate priorities concerning the provision for leisure and culture, and with regard to employment and regeneration. This information explains what facilities are provided and signposts you to facilities run by community organisations. It also outlines what activities take place at our facilities, the standard of service and contact details. Please note that West Lancashire District Council is not responsible for running local libraries - this is the responsibility of Lancashire County Council.

What we do
The Council supports the development of a wide range of arts and cultural functions through direct, indirect and partnership input to facilities, services and activities. The Council has an Arts Development Team, which is supported by The Arts Council. Its main role is to promote access to quality arts activity and develop projects in reference to the Council's corporate priorities. Arts services work with a range of public, voluntary and private bodies in order to develop access to the arts and culture within the District.
