Designated bonfire sites in Skelmersdale
To help you enjoy Guy Fawkes night safely and without any nuisance
problems, the Council - working with the Police, Lancashire Fire
and Rescue, and other local partners - have set up specially
designated bonfire sites in Skelmersdale.
A special bonfire strategy has been drawn up in a bid to reduce the
number of accidents, injuries and unauthorised fires that can
happen on 5 November.
Designated sites
Bonfire sites will only be allowed on specially designated sites
across Skelmersdale.
2009's designated sites in Skelmersdale will be announced
nearer the time.
The Council will remove any other bonfires set up anywhere else
on public land as soon as possible. Bonfires built before or after
the accepted period will also be removed. Any fire that has already
been lit on public land that is not part of the list will be put
out by the fire brigade and then removed by the Council.
How to report an unauthorised bonfire
If you know of a bonfire in the West Lancashire area that is not on
a designated site, that has been built before the agreed dates or
could be dangerous, contact the Council on 01695 577177 so that we
can remove it.
If the bonfire has been lit and it is not on a designated site or
is dangerous, dial 999 and ask for the Fire Service.
