Transport: How you can make a difference

How you can make a difference
How you can help:

  • Before you travel, think whether you really have to use the car, or whether you could walk, cycle or take the bus or train.

If you have to use the car:

  • buy the cleanest fuel your car will take (have you considered converting your car to run on LPG?)
  • keep your car properly serviced and its tyres properly inflated
  • try to visit several places on one journey to save making special trips
  • drive smoothly and below the speed limits (safer too!)
  • take unnecessary items out of the car to reduce weight and improve fuel efficiency, and remove the roof-rack when not needed, to reduce drag
  • give a friend a lift
