Smokefree information for members of the public

Smoke FreePublic places like pubs, cafes, bars and private member clubs etc that are totally or substantially enclosed must be smokefree at all times.

'Enclosed' means buildings with a roof or ceiling and enclosed walls including doors and windows which can be closed. 'Substantially enclosed' applies to buildings which have a roof or ceiling on a permanent or temporary basis and which have more than half the sides enclosed by walls, doors and windows. Communal areas of buildings, for example corridors and stairwells used by more than one person in flats must also be smokefree.

If you are employed and not the only person at your place of work, your place of work must be smokefree at all times. Work vehicles and public services vehicles must be smokefree at all times and display appropriate signage. If you use your own car for work purposes it must remain smokefree when you are carrying passengers in connection with your work.
