Disabled facilities grants

Disabled facilities grants are available from the district Council for adaptations to your home following a referral from an Occupational Therapist who has assessed a disabled person's adaptations needs.

Grants are means tested (except grants for children) and the maximum grant is £25,000. The types of adaptations undertaken are:

  • Access to the dwelling
  • Access in and around the dwelling
  • Making the dwelling safe
  • Access to WC and bathing facilities
  • Access to kitchen facilities
  • Access to power, heat and light

Who to contact

If you think you need adaptations to your house to meet the needs of a disabled person please contact Lancashire County Council Social Services (external link) on 0845 053 009 and ask for an occupation therapy assessment to be carried out.
