Sheltered housing
Have you ever thought about living in one of our
retirement apartments?
These apartments are not communal homes or rest homes, but
simply homes where you can enjoy your full independence with the
added bonus of security and peace of mind together with a friendly
atmosphere.
All of our retirement apartments have:
- central heating
- double glazing
- bathroom, kitchen (some with a cooker and fridge included) and
lounge
There are two types of retirement apartments:
Type 1 apartments
These apartments are all under one roof and have a Scheme
Manager (most of which live on the premises).
All of these schemes have a communal lounge where social
activities are held. These can include: coffee mornings, bingo,
concerts, luncheon clubs, afternoon teas, card evenings, trips out
and much more. All residents have use of communal laundry
facilities, car parking facilities and landscaped gardens.
Type 2 apartments
These apartments may not have all of the communal facilities of
the Type 1 apartments and some of these retirement schemes have a
visiting Scheme Manager instead of a Scheme Manager who lives on
site.
24 hour scheme manager service
All of the apartments are connected to our 24 hour, 365 days a
year, Home Care Link emergency response system, with a pull cord
situated in the lounge/kitchen, bathroom and bedroom which can all
be used if you ever require assistance.
When the Scheme Manager is on duty they will answer your call,
when they are off duty your call is answered, day or night, by the
Home Care Link Control Centre who can contact a friend or relative,
the Doctor, the Mobile Warden or the emergency services if
necessary.
We have a range of retirement schemes across the district. For
further details about the location of the schemes, click on the
link in the "featured stories" panel on the right of this page.
Come and look round
Many of the people who come to join us had felt isolated where
they lived or simply wanted to enjoy the company of people with
similar interests. They now enjoy a friendly atmosphere and feel
secure whilst remaining independent and have the peace of mind that
assistance is available 24 hours a day, should they ever need
it.
Don't take our word for it - come and see for yourself! Meet the
Scheme Managers and some of the residents for a chat and a cup of
coffee. If you like what you see, you can fill an application form
in and leave the rest to us.
