Housing benefit and council tax benefit
We provide an efficient benefits service for
council, private sector and housing association tenants, and
owner-occupiers.
Housing benefit helps tenants on low incomes
with rent payments. You can claim council tax benefit if you are
the person liable for the council tax in your household.
What benefits are you entitled
to?
You can work out how much benefit you may be
entitled to using the benefits calculator.

How benefits are worked
out
Benefits are means-tested - taking into
account how much income and savings you have compared with your
personal circumstances. Benefits must be applied for in writing.
You will be required to complete a Benefit Application Form so that
we can work out if you do qualify for any benefit.

form
If you are not entitled to benefit in your own
right you may still be able to get help in the form of a second
adult rebate, based on the income of people in the household other
than the liable person.
