A visit to peaceful, secluded Abbey Lakes can help soothe away the stresses and strains of modern life.

A wide variety of ducks, geese, swans, and other wetland birds congregate on the lake, making it the ideal place to introduce your children to the joy of feeding the ducks.

The lake was formerly a supply lake for a local abbey and the fascinating history of this site has recently been the subject of the Abbey Lakes Heritage Project. More information on this is available from the Countryside Ranger service.

Abbey Lakes, on the border of Up Holland and Orrell, is now a popular local coarse angling facility. It's leased to a local club and day tickets are available from the bailiff who patrols the banks. Angling platforms are provided around the lake with access via a circular path around the site
