Tackling anti social behaviour is a priority for West
Lancashire Borough Council and its community safety
partners.
The Anti Social Behaviour Team tackle tenancy enforcement,
incidents of anti social behaviour and juvenile nuisance. The team
has successfully secured Anti-Social Behaviour Orders against a
number of individuals and works with partner agencies to introduce
Acceptable Behaviour Contracts as part of our overall strategy.
Anti Social Behaviour Draft Minimum Standards
ASB is defined as any behaviour which causes "alarm,
harassment or distress to one or more persons not of the same
household" (Crime and Disorder Act 1998).
Community Safety Partnerships were asked by
the Home Secretary to commit to a set of minimum standards in
tackling anti-social behaviour by 31 March 2010. The Safer
Lancashire Board agreed that this should take place at a
pan-Lancashire level in order to ensure that the public could
access the same minimum level of service regardless of where they
live.
West Lancashire Community Safety partnership
has agreed to adopt the proposed minimum standards in
the form of an ASB Pledge which is enclosed in the draft document
below and this will be supported by local minimum standards in the
form of response times and contact details. The proposed draft
minimum standards will require endorsement by West Lancashire
Community Safety Partnership on the 28 April 2010 and will then be
produced in a professional format and promoted within the
Borough.
