Heritage and environment
West Lancashire has had a rich and varied history, which has
contributed to the landscape and environment we see today. This
history is expressed not only in the wealth of historic buildings,
towns and villages within the District but is also made up by the
pleasant landscapes, trees and areas of mature woodland.
The Heritage and Environment section incorporates specialists in
the fields of heritage, building conservation and preservation,
trees and landscape.
In 2009, our Environment Team won an English Heritage award for
