West Lancashire has a rich and varied history which has
contributed to the landscape and environment we see today. This
history is expressed not only in the wealth of historic buildings,
towns and villages within the borough, but is also made up by the
pleasant landscapes, trees and areas of mature woodland.
We offer a whole range of specialist services and can provide
advice and guidance regarding tree matters, historical assets (e.g.
listed buildings and conservation areas), landscaping,
sustainability matters and the use of renewable energy.
The Council has recently introduced charges
for providing such specialist services through its planning
function and in particular for obtaining pre-application advice,
undertaking site visits/meeting and giving advice which could be
obtained from persons/bodies outside the Council.
We encourage people to always seek the proper
advice on such matters because it is a criminal offence to carry
out unauthorised works to listed buildings and protected trees
without consent from the local planning authority.
