This web page contains details of the draft
Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) report,
published for consultation in June 2009. Information on the
draft SHLAA report has been broken down into three
parts:
1. Individual site assessments for
each settlement
2. Maps of the borough's settlements showing SHLAA
sites in each area
3. The draft SHLAA report
and its appendices
It should be stressed that
this draft study was not formally endorsed by the Council in
any way. The inclusion of a site in the SHLAA does not
guarantee that we will allocate it or support its development in
the future. Planning applications on all sites will need to be
judged against relevant planning policies and other
considerations. The consultation process on the draft SHLAA
report was carried out as a statutory part of the study.
Whilst the Council ran the consultation, the study remained
the property of the consultants White Young Green, and it was the
job of the consultants to decide how to act upon comments
received.
1. Site assessments
The consultants assessed every site 0.1
hectares in size and above. Details of these sites are
available below. For sites smaller than this, the
consultants took a random sample and so not every site’s details
are available.
The scoring system used by
the consultants is provided below. Please remember that the
site's score is not the "be all and end all" - the planning
policies that apply to each site remain the most important
consideration.
The site assessments have been grouped by
settlement area. If you know a site's reference, you can
quickly identify which group it is in by using the first two
letters of the reference, as shown in brackets below.
2. Maps showing sites in different areas of the Borough
To help you to identify the sites that were
highlighted for the study, including those received through the
Call for Sites exercise, we have prepared maps of the borough
showing the location of each site and its reference
number. The maps are available to download below.
Once you know reference numbers, you can look up the sites'
details in the list of site assessments in section 1
(above).
