Open Space study for West Lancashire

We appointed specialist sport and leisure consultants PMP in June 2008 to undertake an assessment of open space, sport and recreational facilities in West Lancashire. The key aims & objectives of the study were to:

  • Update the existing audit of provision to reflect recent changes;
  • Update the assessment of local needs to ensure that the needs and aspirations of local communities are appropriately understood;
  • Develop clear and robust standards and;
  • Inform the future management of open spaces and facilitate decision making on the current and future needs for open space, sport and recreational facilities.

The assessment has been prepared in light of guidance provided at a National level through PPG17 and will assist in establishing future planning policies through the Local Development Framework and future land allocation. Both the Open Space Study and accompanying Playing Pitch Assessment are provided below, the detailed appendices can be made available through contacting the LDF Team.
