Bulky item collection
If you've got some household rubbish that's too big for your bin
- like an old fridge or television, a mattress or a chair - don't
fly tip it. We can collect it by special arrangement - the cost of
the bulky item collection service is £12.50 for up to five items or
£25 for 6-10.
What can be
collected
We will collect up to ten items from outside your home - and we
need to know exactly which items you want removed. Any items that
are not accounted for will not be removed.
For example, item units consist of:
- 3 piece suite = 3 items
- Bed (base and mattress) = 2 items
- Pieces of wood need to be securely tied into bundles = 1 item
(if these items are not securely tied together they will not be
removed)
- Wardrobes = 1 item if whole or if it is smashed up, it needs to
be in a bundle = 1 item
Please make sure the items are outside your house, but still on
your property, by 7.00am on the day of collection. Collections take
place from 7.00am.
Residents in Council flats or a private flat within a Council
block: please do not place items outside your front door, on the
landings or in any communal area before the morning of the
collection as this is in breach of tenancy conditions and fire
regulations.
Please note that this service is only for domestic residents of
West lancashire.
What cannot be collected
We will not collect building materials, metal, engine oil, car
parts, glass, asbestos, pressurised gas containers, cardboard, tree
trunks, dismantled garden sheds, sun beds, garden waste and
corrosive or other dangerous chemicals. You may be able to take
some of these items to your local household waste recycling centre - please
check what they accept before making a journey - cardboard and
green waste are collected for recycling.
We also can't do house clearances. If you have over ten items

You will be given a specific collection date
When you book your collection, it will be made on a specific day of
the week depending on where you live - you will be told your
collection day at the time of booking. Bookings are made a week in
advance - so if you make a booking any time between Monday and
Friday at 12.00pm of one week, it will be collected the following
week.
Arranging for your bulky item collection
The cost of the bulky item collection service is £12.50 for five
items and £25.00 for up to ten. You must pay for your bulky item
collection before you can arrange it. Refunds cannot be
