Grey bin collections

Grey bin refuse collections
grey bin waste rubbish collection

Every home in the district (apart from some areas in Skelmersdale) has a grey wheelie bin for household waste; a green wheelie bin for garden waste, a blue bag for paper, and a blue box for glass, all types of metal tins or cans and plastic bottles.

We visit your home to collect the refuse in your grey bin (everything you can't recycle) one week and your recyclables (paper, glass, metal cans, plastic bottles and green waste) the next.

Collection days
· We will visit your house on the same day every week - even on bank holidays. The only time the collection will change is for the Christmas and New Year bank holidays, and we will tell you about rescheduled collections in December
· If you need a collection calendar please fill in a Refuse/Recycling Calendar online form and we will post one to you
· If you don't know your collection day, please call Customer Services on 01695577177 or complete a Refuse/Recycling Enquiry online form giving your full address and query
· If you have larger items that need to be removed you can request a bulky item collection

How to present your refuse and recycling
· Please put your bins, box and bag out at the edge of your property or collection point by 7.00am on your collection day
· Please remember that we will only collect refuse from the grey bin that we give you - we will not take any extra bin bags
· Keep the lid down on your wheelie bin to stop flies getting in and smells getting out. Double wrap food scraps and things like nappies or pet waste before it goes into the bin to help stop bad smells.
· For more info about what can and can't be recycled see the Recycling page
· Please wash cans/tins and bottles/jars before putting them out. Leave any extra recycling in open carrier bags, please do not use refuse sacks.
· If you have larger items that need to be removed you can request a bulky item collection

What to do if you have a problem
· If there is a problem with your refuse or recycling collection - like a missed collection or spillage - you can report it with the Refuse/Recycling Collection Problem online form
· If you need help presenting your bags and boxes on collection day you can complete the Refuse/Recycling Assistance online form
· If you think you need another grey bin, please check to make sure you are recycling as much as you can. If you complete the Refuse/Recycling Assistance form we will visit your home, give advice and work out arrangements. We treat all requests individually.
