The Autumn edition of the Council
newspaper Westlancslife (formerly The
Voice) has now hit the streets. We are asking
people to give their views through a new online survey.

The Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committees
carry out detailed reviews of specific topics. Three new
reviews are being carried out this year:
- Olympics 2012 - 'Securing a lasting legacy in
West Lancashire?'
- Speeding traffic with particular reference to
20mph speed limits near schools
- Alcohol and associated problems
You can comment on any of the topics being
considered, or suggest topics for inclusion in future work
programmes:
Planning Policy
consultation
A wide range of consultations
are being carried out
on the Council's emerging
Local Development Framework (LDF). During Autumn 08,
consultation will include the Open Space and Recreation Provision
in New Residential Developments Supplementary Planning Document
(SPD) and also the housing and employment land studies.
People’s Panel
The Autumn 2008 Survey for members of the the
People’s Panel West Lancashire is now underway.

Place Survey 2008
This is a major survey to gather local
residents’ views about West Lancashire and the services provided by
West Lancs District Council and Lancashire County Council.
Questionnaires are being issued to around 3,000 households all over
the district. If you receive a questionnaire, please take the
time to complete it so that we can gather as many views as
possible. The results will be available early in 2009 and will help
the Council and its partners make improvements.
Ormskirk
Town Centre Conservation Area - Character
Appraisal October/Nov 2008.
Local residents and involved organizations are
being consulted on proposals to preserve and enhance the character
of the conservation areas. Local residents receive a
letter and there will also be an exhibition.
New play area at Summer Street,
Skelmersdale
Local residents have been consulted about a site for the play
area. The responses are being studied and further consultation will
take place during the Autumn.
